In developed countries calculator to get an important role in the process of learning mathematics. This is indicated by the use of calculators in mathematics learning ranging from primary education to higher education. Not only limited to that, research on the graphing calculator is indicated by the number of journals, books, conference reports and dissertations that discuss the graphing calculator. The importance of a calculator is to bridge the arithmetic and algebra (Tenoch E. Cedillo; 2002:1).
In the process of learning mathematics requires the ability of teachers to have the scheme
learning. With the scheme are expected to have a systematic teacher in the learning of mathematics. So that learning will be systematic and structured math.
Types of calculators had great development. Judging from their use calculator consists of two types. This type consists of two kinds, namely ordinary calculators and scientific calculators (scientific calculator).
One example of a scientific calculator is a graphing calculator. Graphing calculator has its own advantages than regular calculator. The advantage lies in the ability of the calculator to solve math problems quickly and display them in graphical form.
Another advantage of the graphing calculator to create a program that can solve math problems. Student responses to the use of calculators in mathematics learning
1.      Use of calculators in mathematics learning
• calculator lead students work on the problems easier
• a calculator to make classroom lessons more interesting
• calculator as a tool count
• with a calculator to learn much more developed
• calculator to match the workmanship about
2.      Difficulty using a calculator
• difficulty in understanding the matter to be included into the calculator
• difficulties during the process of entering data into the calculator problem
• interpret, analyze, and provide conclusions from the answers to questions from the calculator
3.      How to overcome difficulties
• ask a teacher
• ask a friend who knows better
4.      Due to the use of calculators
• a high level of dependence
• loss of confidence
